Mission
Stonegate Community Ecumenical Ministry is an alliance of local Christian Churches working together to build a stronger, kinder and more just community within the Stonegate area. Working in partnership with the community through shared resources, we offer programs and opportunities to build healthy relationships, strong families, a sense of belonging and a deeper relationship with God. We endeavour to address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals and families to bridge toward a better life. We are a faithful voice to ensure everyone in the community is treated with justice and Christian compassion.
Service Area
The Stonegate community is located just west of the Humber River, south of Bloor, north of the Queensway with the western boundary at Royal York Rd. The core clientele for SCEM's work are the tenants who live in 79 low-rise apartment buildings in the neighbourhood, a population around 11,000 people. These people earn low incomes; many families are headed by a single parent; and many are new Canadians, recently arrived in Canada.
